Aussie Politician Is A Twit (Sean Rasmussen)

2 November, 2008

It was a great teleclass with Sean Rasmussen last Thursday night, during the call Sean was talking about how he was able to write a simple blog post about an Aussie Politician joining Twitter (which was slightly controversial) and in a few days was ranking number 1 in google on the keyword Aussie Politician.

If you are interested in Search Engine Optimisation it would be good for you to head over to the page that Sean put up and analyse some of the techniques that he used.  Just click on the link below to see the page:

SEO For Firefox

31 October, 2008

By now you should all have downloaded and be using firefox as your default browser.  If not then don’t hesitate head over to www.getfirefox.com now to download it (it’s free).

One of the major reasons why I personally use firefox is because of the SEO For Firefox tool.  This tool makes checking the competition on keywords quite simple.  The data that SEO For Firefox tool gives you is best used in product marketing keyword research.

Content Page Recipe

7 October, 2008

As you all know I love doing mind maps and step by step processes.  At the last coaching day in Sydney I worked with the group on how to design content pages and the specific step by step process that you need to follow to ensure that your content pages are both structurally correct and also follow Search Engine Optimisation Rules.

I have re-worked this content page recipe into a mind map for you to be able to use on your website.  What you need to remember is that it’s important that you run this recipe over every content page that you have built or are building.

If you have trouble understanding it just ask me during our next coaching call

Keyword Density

29 September, 2008

On the weekend at our coaching day in Sydney I was talking about Search Engine Optimisation (as I always do).  Anyone who has heard me talk about SEO before would know that there are two key factors to being successful at SEO, on-page optimisation and off-page optimisation.

On the weekend I was talking about on-page optimisation and how the amount of times your keywords are repeated on your page is one of the factors that the search engines are looking for when deciding where to rank your site.  What I suggest is that you should be looking to have your keyword repeated about 5 times for every 100 words.  Now in internet marketing circles we call this a keyword density of 5%.

Instead of having to sit there and manually count how many times your keyword is repeated there is a tool designed to allow you to measure your keyword density.  I have done a quick video on how to use that tool, so just watch that video below and click on the link below that to visit the keyword density tool
